The DSA is an instrument that can very accurately determine the dry matter and inorganic matter of each pulp type within 10 to 15 minutes.
The instrument contains a balance that weighs to the nearest milligram.
The sample, approx. 200 mL. , is introduced into the instrument in an aluminum container with a special ceramic filter. After which it is accurately weighed and then dried using a large flow of hot air. The sample is then weighed again and the dry matter is automatically calculated. After this, the sample is heated again to approximately 600 °C, causing the sample to be completely burned. The sample is then weighed again and the Ash remainder calculated. The device is fully automatic and can be easily operated by any operator.
